The Chase - Hunting in Canada

Imagine standing in a dark timber forest, gazing into an open meadow.  The light breeze can be felt in your face and the leaves gently rustle on the limbs above.  It smells musky and wet, indicative of a wallow and rutting bulls and stags.  You hear the crack of a branch, echoing through the trees.  You peer through the mist, which rises slowly from the creek bed.  You feel your heart beating a little stronger as a dark shadow begins to take shape.

photo You slowly raise your binoculars and watch intently, trying to focus on the animal’s enormous rack.  He tilts his head back and breaks the calm air with a shrill and distinctive call. His intense bugle resonates throughout the valley and the adrenaline surges through your body.  Then you realize you’re only dreaming.  It’s the same dream you’ve had a hundred times … or is it?  At Laurentian,  our clients have similar experiences every day of the hunt, transforming their dreams into reality and memories to last a lifetime.

We hunt via two methods, stand hunting and “walk and stalk.”   Certainly each group and most often each individual hunter’s desires and physical abilities dictate how we cater each day.  Certain outside factors may also dictate our course, where rain and inclement weather may steer us to blinds.  For those not in peak physical condition, but still wishing to enjoy the mountains, this is a perfect choice.

Our huntsman are true professionals, each with years of experience in various hunting venues, with a variety of game.  They are proficient hunters able to spot n’ stalk, field judge and assist in all manners of the hunt.  Additionally, these outdoorsman are gentleman.  As our guests spend so much time afield with their guide, it’s important to us that our staff are as well-mannered as well-trained.

photoRifle hunters will enjoy the challenge of finding “the one that suits their fancy,” be it a non-typical, long tined or heavy beamed trophy.  Archers will also find their enjoyment with both the pursuit of trophy game and the inherent skill required to move into close range, for that fatal shot.
Our custom vehicles are used to access the hunting area, but we tend to leave them tucked away during the chase.  They are handy for accessing the more remote parks, the tops of the steeps and surely for return to the lodge, following the day’s hike.
All trophy hunting packages at Laurentian includes lodging, meals, beverages, guiding, field transport, quartering meat and trophy preparation. (Taxidermy & meat processing additional).  There are two types of package;  A la carte and All Inclusive.  Royal Valley and Monarch Mountain hunts are all inclusive and Companion hunts are a la carte, with 2x1 daily rate plus trophy fee (see pricing for details).

“Our group has done many outdoor activities through the years, but none that have been close to this experience. We spent days looking and hunting finally achieving two super bulls. Great guides, fantastic food and accommodation...a lifetime memory.”
S.B. Virginia

“This was without a doubt, one of the finest big game hunts I have been on. Enormous bulls, great people and a tremendous experience.”
M.V. Ohio

“The crew here at the Laurentian Wildlife Estate were overwhelming with their hospitality and had a total dedication to the success and satisfaction of our hunt. I came for a 6x6 and left with an 8x8 and couldn’t be happier. We are leaving with the feeling that our interests were their number one priority.”
